Landscape Design Schools

The Landscape Design Study Program is a series of four courses which have been developed by the National Garden Clubs. The diversity of the course curriculum - from the history of landscape design to contemporary landscape architecture - appeals to a broad range of interests. The course material will familiarize students with the principles and practice of good landscape design. It is structured to provide basic guidelines for do-it-yourself undertakings and an overview from which to evaluate and understand the procedures of professionally designed projects.

Landscape Design Study Courses are open to garden club and non-garden club members alike. Garden Club members who successfully complete the four courses are eligible to receive NCSGC accreditation. This certification does not qualify the graduate to go into professional practice; however the knowledge gained can lead to:

           Better appreciation of private and public gardens;

           More beautiful, useful and convenient, ecologically sound and more
           maintenance free surroundings;

           Informed participation in community planning;

           Development of important private and civic projects.
