NGC Mission Statement

Adopted by the NGC Board of Directors at the 1999 Atlanta Convention

National Garden Clubs, Inc. provides education, resources and national networking opportunities for its members to promote the love of gardening, floral design, civic and environmental responsibility.

National Garden Clubs Objectives and Purposes

1. National Garden Clubs is organized exclusively for charitable, educational, and scientific purposes, including distributions to other tax exempt organizations.

2. To coordinate and further the interest and activities of State Federations of Garden Clubs, State Associations of Garden Clubs and the National Capital Area Garden Club, together with similar organizations in the territories and posessions of the United States and foreign countries.

3. To aid in the protection and conservation of natural resourses, to promote civic beauty and encourage the improvement of roadsides and parks.

4. To encourage and assist in establishing and maintaining botanical gardens and horticultural centers for the advancement of science and for the enjoyment and education of the public.

5. To study and advance the fine arts of gardening, landscape design, floral design and horticulture.

6. To cooperate with other organizations in the furtherance of the foregoing objectives and in such activities as may be determined by the Board of Directors.

7. To further horticultural education , conservation and landscape design through gift scholarships.

The National Garden Clubs Headquarters office is located at 4401 Magnolia Ave. in St. Louis, Mo. It is open five days a week from 9 am to 4:30 pm. Central Time.

A major undertaking is to provide a butterfly garden at the Botanical Garden at the foot of the Capitol Building in Washington, DC.

The National Garden Club office is a source for text books and literature for NGC Schools. They also offer a comprehensive library of materials of interest to gardeners.

The "National Gardener" is published every other month, available by subscription.
