To receive the NER group rate of $97 + 8% tax ($104.76 per night - double or single) – Rate is available Monday night as well as Thursday and Friday nights following the Symposium.

 

DIRECTIONS:

AIRPORT

The hotel is located within 40 miles of three airports.  Nashua Municipal Airport/Boire Field is located 2 miles from the hotel.  Manchester Airport is located 23 miles from the hotel.  Logan International Airport is located 40 miles from the hotel.

 

LOCATION

The hotel is located off Spit Brook Rd (Exit 1) off New Hampshire Route 3.  Only minutes from downtown shopping and golfing.  It is also a short drive to the Manchester Airport.

GENERAL INSTRUCTIONS

Lectures are open to all garden club members and the public upon payment of fees. 

All judges taking the NER Symposium for credit or audit must check with their State Flower Show Schools Chairman (or Credentials) to verify eligibility. Each State Chairman shall then notify the Symposium Chairman, Virginia GrandPre’, 86 Woodlot Lane, Stoddard, NH 03464 of eligibility.

 

Judges must have their own copy of The Handbook for Flower Shows - 2007 Edition, with corrections to obtain credit. If taking the exam you must supply your own clipboard.

All judges taking the course for Credit or Audit must attend all meal functions.

 

Final deadline for Symposium registration is August 1, 2009.  No refunds will be made after that date.  Good standing must be on the registration form.

INSTRUCTORS

Guy Comtois

Guy is the owner of Sticks and Stones Nursery in Center Barnstead NH.  He will be speaking on various systems used in growing hydroponically.  He will point out the benefits of hydroponics, growing mediums and nutrient solutions.

 

Guy and his staff have grown strawberries, squash, cucumbers, tomatoes, peppers, eggplant, green beans, leafy greens, watermelon, broccoli, cauliflower, pumpkins, gourds, radishes, carrots, corn, onions, herbs and flowers hydroponically.

 

 

 

Sticks and Stones Nursery sells their product to Hannaford’s Supermarket in Alton NH and welcome tours to their farm.

 

Barbara Baker

Upon early retirement in 1986, Barbara quickly became active in garden club work serving as President of Texas Garden Clubs in 1999-2001.

 

Barbara has served on the National Garden Clubs, Inc. Board since 1995 and is currently on the Organization Study Committee. She has served on the South Central Region Board since 1993 and is currently Awards Chairman.

 

Locally she is serving as President of Fort Worth Garden Club with 555 members. Barbara is a Master FS Judge and Instructor since 2003.

 

Dorthy Yard

Dorthy is a graduate of California State College and West Virginia University.  She is also a former math teacher.


She is the immediate Past President of The Garden Club Federation of Pennsylvania and Four Star Member of NGC, having completed all four schools.


She currently is serving NGC on the Flower Show Schools Committee as Accrediting Chairman of the Deep South Region.


Dorthy is a
Master Judge and Instructor of Horticulture and Flower Show Procedure in both Flower Show Schools and Symposia.


With
rural and small town roots; her favorite past times are gardening, sewing, doing cross-stitch, traveling and singing in the church choir.  With husband, Dave, she has three sons and one daughter, three grandchildren.
