“Home-Grown in Iowa” 2010 Flower Show

To return the hospitality so graciously shown us in past years, Northwest Iowa invites you to attend the 2010 State Flower Show and FGCI State Meeting June 24-25 in Fort Dodge. We hope to see gardeners and designers from all across the state.

In celebrating Iowa and all things home-grown, we want to encourage you to plan your gardens and designs using plant material easily found in Iowa. As you peruse garden catalogs this winter, plan to grow more of your own flowers for our State Flower Show, “Home-Grown in Iowa.”

We also want to encourage ALL of you to participate, by entering horticulture, designs, or special exhibits, and by attending the meeting. Remember, the FGCI is for all of us, judges and non-judges alike. To provide an extra boost of confidence to non-judges, we will also offer several design classes open only to non-judges. (Of course, non-judges may also choose to compete with judges in the other classes, but if you are timid about such competition, the classes for non-judges can help you begin your State Flower Show journey.) When the schedule is printed in the Spring NEWS, please take time to find one or more classes you’d like to enter. Contact the consultant to volunteer your entry with “home-grown” enthusiasm.
