October 2006 - Bi-Annual Theme luncheon and Fashion show.

This year’s theme, Do Your Own Thing, provided the best of opportunities for our Garden Club members to demonstrate their many creative talents in making the setting for our Theme Luncheon and Fashion Show by Phyllis a total delight! On October 25th, the historic landmark Summit Inn was the destination of guests who arrived with plans to begin their enjoyment of this gala event with a leisurely review of the enticing items on display for the ever popular Chinese Auction held later in the day. The tables, beautifully decorated each with a motif such as a season, holiday, or fun activity, in an original, imaginative manner reflecting this year’s Do Your Own Thing theme. Stylish designs presented in the Fashion Show by Phyllis followed the luncheon with a later opportunity to purchase, with discounts, clothing and jewelry seen during the Fashion Show. Much fun was had by all!

November 2006 Meeting

The agenda covered during the business meeting included information and activities regarding our scholarship program and toy donations. Garret Graham was awarded a $500.00 scholarship with the possibility of a $1,000.00 scholarship next year if he maintains a 3.0 grade point average. Inquiries are being made by Janet Knight and Susan Brimo-Cox about the possibility of another scholarship for a veteran who will be attending Touchstone. A variety of unwrapped toys were brought to our meeting by Garden Club members and donated to "Caring People" for local distribution.
|
November's program "Holiday Arrangements" was presented by Steve Neubauer, a well-known and very appreciated local florist. |

December 2006 Meeting

We closed 2006 by holding our December meeting in the Club Room at Nemacolin. The festive decorations and brightly trimmed tree certainly helped to put everyone into a holiday mood. The Officers made their contributions to the occasion by sprucing up the tables with holly, pine and cranberry filled glass candle holders. The scene was definitely set for the annual judging of the Gift-Wrapped Packages! The decision-making for the three categories of Most Garden Oriented, Most Original and Prettiest was no easy task.
