Thank you for electing me President of the RIFGC Inc. I plan to earn the trust you have placed in me to lead and coordinate our activities over the next two years. The officers and committee members of the 2009-2011 administration are anxious to work with you to reach out to the garden clubs and assist the club presidents in making our state a more beautiful and environmentally sound place to live.
Club Members and Presidents
We would not exist were it not for you. To the Presidents you are our conduit to the clubs. Our goals are to foster better relationships with the clubs, to increase membership, improve the environment and give back to the clubs. We plan to improve communications between the Federation and the individual clubs, to share in a network of speakers, educators and programs that promote synergy among clubs. We would like to share ideas, combine efforts for larger projects and increase our visibility in the community.
We will continue with most of our existing projects. Plans are underway to secure a site for a Habitat for Humanity landscaping project. Our highly successful Design Study Group is entering its fourth year of operation. You will continue to receive the fascinating Bird Track Reports. Environmental awareness, tips and suggestions will be reported. Plans for our State Flower Show are already underway and the schedule will be available in the next issue of the “News”.
A Mentoring Program will be initiated this year to offer assistance to clubs desiring help in preparing for and hosting a flower show. An experienced committee member can be assigned to a garden club to attend meetings, provide advice and information regarding all aspects of staging a show.
In closing, I will always be available to listen to your opinions, thoughts and suggestions---- Whereas I may not always be able to act on your ideas and comments, I will always do the best I can to be fair and I pledge to you that I will always act in the best interests of the membership of this wonderful organization.
