The SOUTH DAKOTA FEDERATION OF GARDEN CLUBS, INC. is a service and educational non-profit organization that promotes the love of gardening, and coordinates its efforts with other organizations which have similar interests. 

These interests include civic development, beautification, and landscaping for Habitat for Humanity.

The SOUTH DAKOTA FEDERATION OF GARDEN CLUBS, INC. is dedicated to furthering the study of horticulture, advancing the fine arts of gardening, landscape design, and floral design, and aiding in the protection and conservation of the beauty and natural resources of South Dakota and the world.

The SOUTH DAKOTA FEDERATION OF GARDEN CLUBS, INC.  (SDFGC) publishes a news publication  THE MESSENGER.  This publication prints items of interest necessary to keep the membership well informed of current topics and calendar events.

The SOUTH DAKOTA FEDERATION OF GARDEN CLUBS, INC. awards a yearly scholarship to a student enrolled in the horiculture, forestry, landscape, and parks program at South Dakota State University.The SOUTH DAKOTA FEDERATION OF GARDEN CLUBS, INC. awards a scholarship to a horiculture major at Southeast Technical Institute, Sioux Falls, SD. The SOUTH DAKOTA FEDERATION OF GARDEN CLUBS, INC. developed the Butterfly Garden at the Outdoor Campus at Sioux Falls, SD.
