Ivan Racheff House & Gardens
Headquarters of Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc.
Knoxville, Tennessee
Visitors follow pathways among the trees, shrubs, and flower beds, and see a pond,
tea house, gazebo, fern cobble, wildflower garden, and a fountain memorial wall.
The garden is particularly beautiful in the early spring when hundreds of tulips
are in bloom, the dogwood trees and camellias thrive. The craftsman style house,
circa 1902,is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. It is located at
1943 Tennessee Avenue in Knoxville, and is open by appointment for club meetings,
seminars, programs, and/or tours, by calling ahead 865-552-6210. The gardens, which
contain a recently accredited Level I Arboretum, are open Monday through Friday,
9:00 AM to 4:00 PM, from February 1 - December 15, and every day during the
Dogwood Festival in Knoxville each spring.
Since we offer tours, it is very important that the house and grounds be maintained
to keep the venue interesting to those coming to use and to view the three-acre
property which the TFGC has owned since 1970. The operation will, with on-going
help from volunteers and our TFGC garden clubs, continue to improve. Each year our
work goes on! The Tennessee Federation of Garden Clubs, Inc. and the Racheff Board
of Governors extend a warm and special invitation to you or your garden club to
visit soon. It is our hope that each and every garden club and member will visit
Racheff sometime in the near future.
Please send inquires to: Ivan Racheff House & Gardens, PO Box 50185, Knoxville,
TN 37950-0185 or phone 865-522-6210.
